RESTORATIVE OCEAN FARMING
GreenWave scales the regenerative ocean farming model across North America by partnering with fishermen, Indigenous groups and other under-resourced coastal communities directly affected by climate change. With a grant, we’re supporting their goal to plant one million acres of regenerative crops over the next decade.
YOUTH EMPOWER-MENT
EarthEcho’s OceanEcho 30X30 initiative aims to build a global youth movement to protect 30% of our ocean by 2030. Key regions of focus include Argentina, Canada, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Malaysia, Philippines, Spain, and the US.
Together, we also launched the Future in the Bag campaign, working with local communities across the United States to reduce the use of plastic bags.

2023
With support from La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund, EarthEcho established an externship program for BIPOC youth to build regenerative ocean aquaculture skills and advance the global goal of protecting 30% of the ocean by 2030.
With the support of La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund, EarthEcho’s Youth Leadership Council (YLC) organized coastal restoration projects in 8 cities and 5 countries and hosted a Youth Leadership Summit for 250 young ocean advocates from 39 countries with the goal of protecting 30% of the global ocean by 2030.
In 2023, we continued our partnership with GreenWave and the Shinnecock Kelp Farmers of Long Island, launching a regenerative ocean farming initiative with Indigenous women. Together, we’re creating jobs sustainably growing and harvesting kelp and restoring critical local ocean ecosystems.
2022
Our renewed partnerships assist EarthEcho’s organization of coastal restoration projects across 5 countries, while GreenWave significantly progresses towards their goal of building the first indigenous-owned kelp hatchery on the east coast.
2021
With a grant, La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund supports GreenWave’s mission to scale regenerative ocean farming to coastal and Indigenous communities around North America.
2020

With our assistance, The Nature Conservancy plants 400,000 mangroves in the Caribbean.
2018
Support for the Oceano Azul Foundation leads to the discovery of the LUSO Hydrothermal Field in the Azores, a unique zone of biological, geological and chemical importance that is now declared a Marine Protected Area.
2017
We launch La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund as a way to make charitable contributions that support ocean preservation efforts.
2015
We support two new National Geographic Society Emerging Explorers who are making strides in ocean sustainability research and biofluorescence.
2014
We kick off a 3-year partnership with the National Geographic Society to help support their emerging explorers program.
2005
La Mer embarks on an eight-year partnership with Oceana to support Marine Protected Areas. The partnership resulted in the protection of 16.1 million square miles of seafloor habitats.
